Production companies were now using limestone as a filler and less asphalt. With prices of roofing going up, it was getting harder to find affordable roofing. Even today roof replacements run around $10,000 to $12,000 and the lifespan of a roof is actually decreasing. With these cuts in the amount of asphalt used in shingles, affordable roofing in places like Idaho Falls, ID became hard to come by.
